Yannis Kolokotronis (Athens, 1962) is engaged in wide-ranging research in the history of Art from Antiquity to the Present times. The author of many books and articles, he has worked in the social, cultural, philosophical, and economic history of Art and the strategies of image in the artistic world. He is curator of several exhibitions in Greece, Cyprus, Turkey, Italy, Germany, Sweden, and France. He worked on the realization of the Cyclades Pinacotheque in the old Customs House on the island of Syros (1994) and the Park of Modern Art in Nea Ionia (Volos, 2004). He was a graduate of the Department of History and Archaeology, Faculty of Philosophy, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (Ph.D. 1990). Director of the Pierides Museum of Contemporary Art, Athens (1987-96). Since 1986 he has been writing and publishing articles on art and artists in art magazines and the press: Contemporanea International Art Magazine (1988-89), Issue (1989-91). Ta Nea tis Techis (1991-), National Geographic (1997-98), Nemesis (2005-07), Peri U (www.periou.gr 2022-), e.t.c. He was a guest of the AED/USIA program (1992) and a Fulbright Scholar (1995-96). Member: AICA (1988) and Secretary General (1993). ELIA (1993). OMEPO (1995). E.E.I.T. (2001-). Member of committees of the Ministry of Culture (2003-09). Member of the Scientific Staff of the E.A.P. (2009-). Academic career at the Democritus University of Thrace (DUTH) since 1999: Academic Staff (1999-2002), Assistant Professor (2002-09), Associate Professor (2010-16), Professor (2016-).
